Trainer & Assessor
Teach the next generation of makeup artists. We are expanding our course list through 2026 and looking for experienced makeup professionals to join our teaching team.
Burleigh Heads, Gold CoastMt Gravatt, BrisbaneCasual, with a pathway to part-timeFace-to-face & online
About the role
Huxley School of Makeup is one of Australia’s leading makeup schools, delivering nationally recognised training in partnership with TAFE Queensland (RTO 0275 | CRICOS 03020E | IHE PRV13003). Our graduates work on feature films, campaigns, runways and wedding mornings across the country.
We are growing. New courses are rolling out through 2026 across both campuses, and we need experienced artists who can pass on what they know — in a classroom, on a set day, and online.
This is casual work to begin with, built around your own freelance schedule, with a genuine pathway to permanent part-time as the timetable grows.
What you will be doing
- Delivering training and assessment across face-to-face and online formats.
- Developing and maintaining course materials so what we teach stays current with the industry.
- Running the room — managing classroom delivery, the pace of the day and the practical sessions.
- Adapting how you teach to suit different learners, from school leavers to career changers.
- Assessing student work and giving feedback that actually moves someone forward.
- Supporting students through their qualification, not just through your class.
What you will need
- A current TAE qualification — Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or TAE40122).
- At least three years working in the beauty or makeup industry.
- Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics or Certificate III in Make-up, or an equivalent qualification.
- Strong organisation and communication — you will be managing a room, a timetable and a lot of assessment paperwork.
Nice to have
- Screen and Media makeup qualifications — Diploma or Advanced Diploma (CUA51020 / CUA60620).
- Previous teaching or assessing experience in a registered training organisation.
- A specialisation we can build a course around — SFX, prosthetics, hair styling or editorial.
- Experience delivering training online as well as in person.
Before you can start
Every trainer at Huxley works with students, some of whom are under 18. Before a first class, we will need to sight:
- Proof of your right to work in Australia.
- A current Working with Children Check (Blue Card in Queensland).
- A national police clearance.
- Copies of the qualifications you hold.
You do not need any of these to register your interest below — we will talk you through it if we move forward.
